Casa per due famiglie
Renovation of a villa with garden for a retired couple
The context is not only the physical surroundings but also the regulatory framework and, in cases like this, the historical period in which the project takes shape. In this case, the project addresses the challenging sprawl house typology, typical of 1970s construction, and the historical period of the “superbonus” initiative. The design required preserving compositional stylistic elements, the balance between openings and walls, and all characteristic features such as balconies and the outdoor entry staircase.
The project focuses on dividing the property into two residential units and opts to simplify the volume by forgoing the pitched roof, reinterpreting the same elements through the use of natural materials: wood for the window frames, stone and concrete for the horizontal exterior surfaces, lime plaster for the walls and metal for the railings.
